Inside the Secret Temple of the Tree”

For a long time I didn’t make any lace. Not because I didn’t want to create, but because I didn’t want to create just for the sake of creating. I was searching for the right inspiration — for the right inner calling. I was looking for something that would speak directly to my soul, something that would resonate with my spiritual path. In the meantime, I worked on many other art and craft projects. I meditated, connected to the spiritual worlds, and waited for inspiration. And finally, I found it.
We had to cut some branches from a tree in our yard. One small piece of water oak had a hollow and a beautiful, almost carved shape. When I looked at it — already an artwork on its own — I was suddenly transported inside a secret temple. A temple where we can find silence, mysteries, and a gateway to our true self. I walked around this piece for a few days. Every day I was taken deeper and deeper into the vision that the wood evoked. I thought about it more and more, and I knew: this is my calling.
During one meditation with this piece, I suddenly found myself in my mind back in Kutaisi, where we visited a small chapel placed inside a hollow oak. I felt again the powerful energy of that tree. I remembered the sense of connection I had during that meditation inside the secret tree. Maybe all trees on our planet are connected. Today I started sketching for my lace. I made a few studies, and I couldn’t
wait to hear the calming sound of clicking bobbins again.
